Napels, 19 september 2021 - Het vermeende bloedmirakel van San Gennaro heeft zich vanochtend in de Dom van Napels opnieuw voorgedaan.

“Het bloed is vloeibaar”, riep aartsbisschop Domenico Battaglia van Napels uit tijdens de zondagsmis in de kathedraal van de Zuid-Italiaanse stad.

In overeenstemming met de anticoronaregels werden 450 gelovigen toegelaten en 200 buiten op het bordes van de dom.

De herhaling van het wonder wordt gezien als een goed voorteken voor Napels en de regio Campanië. Drie keer per jaar houden veel Napolitanen de adem in, want dan bekijkt de aartsbisschop of een kleine hoeveelheid geronnen bloed van de martelaar Januarius van Benevento,  bewaarde in een flacon, weer even vloeibaar wordt: 19 september, de liturgische gedachtenis van Sint-Januarius, de zaterdag vóór de eerste zondag in mei, en 16 december.
