Jeruzalem, 13 april 2025Dit jaar vieren de christenen die nog de juliaanse kalender volgen Pasen op dezelfde dag als de christenen die de gregoriaanse kalender volgen. Dat betekent dat ook de gregoriaanse en de juliaanse Palmzondag samenvallen. Dat was vanochtend goed te merken in de Heilig-Grafkerk in Jeruzalem, waar zowel de Grieks-orthodoxe christenen als de rooms-katholieken de traditionele palmprocessie hielden. Het ritueel herinnert aan de intocht van Jezus Christus in Jeruzalem, waar hij vijf dagen vóór zijn dood als de Messias werd toegejuicht.
